Stepping up
As per your suggestions, I've added in a little anticipation before he hauls ass again to lift it to the top of the stairs, and already I see a big improvement from my last playblast. It's cool to be able to go back to see my progress--even though technically I could do that all along lol, I just haven't since the last time I was actually in a class where I had to show playblasts every week. Anyway--I like this version better and I'm thinking of extending the anticipation a tad bit more once I go linear but for this stepped version it'll do. I also had planned to do a little follow through end action--not have it stop so abruptly when he puts down the box. But that'll come later too.
I want to post this now because apparently youtube takes FOREVER to process a video. But I'm going to start to convert to linear and work on my feet. :P
Here's the video link. Check back in about three days when it actually loads!
The King Kong Soundtrack came up on my shuffle so here's some pictures I took while up on the Empire State Building a few weeks ago. While I was up there I didn't really think too much of how high I actually was--maybe because it's like being in an airplane. I don't know, but I wasn't too concerned with it. Until maybe a few days later when I suddenly realized, hey, that was pretty high up. And seeing as it's the only building left that tall, it's really odd.... Then I started to think about the towers and what I remembered about the Windows of the World, and well, you get the picture.
The Met Life Building. Used to be the Pan Am Building back when they were the number one airline, in the world I suppose. No more :( But you can drive through that building. :)
The Flaitron Building--dead center, shaped like a triangle, looks like it belongs in San Francisco. :) I believe one of those other buildings is the Woolworth. Then Lady Liberty is in the upper corner--a speck. Then of course the rest of the picture is downtown. The Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges aren't so visible in this picture, but some bridge in the background is. Still don't know which one that is. haha.
The Chrysler and the 59th Street Bridge. Some tall black building too, which if I'm not mistaken I have pointed out before. lol
And finally Central Park and the GE Building. Which....is....Rockefeller Center? I think.
Gee I've got more of it down pat now than when I was actually up there. :D I should probably say that I always enjoy taking photographs like these because I absolutely love architecture. I never wanted to make it a career nor did it ever spark any interest in any sort of engineering etc., I've just always been fascinated by buildings and bridges. Especially buildings and bridges in New York. It's a sort of, inspiration.
Hey! That feels a lot better! And you're right, I think it could use a bit more anticipation. It's funny, but the real part of animation that makes it feel real, is the part where you don't animate. It's weird. But it's the holds that make you want to see what happen afterwards. I think some great reference would be Snow White. The dwarves have a lot of anticipation when they're about to do actions. I always do the same thing too where I hurry through an animation. Later on I go back and drag half my key frames across sixty frames or so haha.
ReplyDeleteIt's looking good :-D keep it up!
ooh okay, so I got so excited about commenting on the animation that I didn't get to read all the photograph descriptions hehe...
ReplyDeleteI think the view from the Empire State Building is one of the coolest vistas ever! It's frightening, but brilliant at the same time. Pretty pictures from the top :) I really need to go back to visit New York City ;)
yeah I think that's what I'll end up doing. Dragging my frames some more later on. It's hard to get a really good judge in stepped mode. I wanted to do more last night but I'm still on my 9 pm sleeping schedule, haha. I'm working double time tonight. :P
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, you should come visit NYC. I'd get to do all the touristy thing then, lol.
I like the animation a lot more! I love the anticipation! :D And as Tanith said, the pictures are amazing. Where did you get all of those? :O
ReplyDeleteI had the opportunity to be a tourist for a few hours and went up to the empire state. hehe.
ReplyDeleteSo much city as far as the eye can see! How did it feel to be sooooo high?
